The Science of Life

Ayurveda or the science of life, is an ancient philosophy going back over 4,000 years. Once deemed only for the kings and queens of the eastern world we find many colorations in these teachings and treatments in today’s modern lifestyles. Caption: Well balanced diet

Ayurvedic Consultation

All treatments begin with an ayurvedic questioner and consultation. Through a shared dialogue and observation, the practitioner can gain a better understanding of the patient’s constitution. With this understanding a series of treatments may be prescribed. Diet, exercise and stress management are key areas of focus when working with a client. Quit often we turn to our kitchen as our pharmacy and work to stock the pantry with foods, spices and herbs that will maintain a strong digestive fire (agni) and well balanced dosha’s.

Understanding your digestive fire is very important in any ayurvedic treatment. If the fire is to hot, we feel a dry burning sensation. If it is to cool, we feel sluggish, damp and cold. A well balanced agni will allow you to maintain a good weight, well-oiled joints, clean clear skin and a-focused mind.

Ayurveda: The Kitchen Pharmacy

If Ayurveda is the science of life then what is life made of but the 5 elements. Fire, Earth, Air, Water and Ether make up every living thing including each and every one of us. In Ayurveda we work to balance these elements both within and outside our bodies. These elements when combined create the 3 dosha’s we mentioned earlier. Kapha (Water and Earth), Pita (Fire and Earth) and Vata ( Air and Ether). How do these dosha’s compare to your body and mind? Do you see any resemblance?
